Monthly Reiki Share

Reiki is a Japanese energy-healing practice developed by Mikao Usui in the early 20th century. The word Reiki is commonly translated as universal life-force energy.

Reiki is a gentle practice intended to encourage relaxation, mindfulness, and a sense of balance and wellbeing. During Reiki, practitioners place their hands lightly on or just above the body. You remain fully clothed, and no massage or manipulation is involved.

What happens at a Reiki Share?

We begin each Reiki Share with a short guided meditation to help everyone settle in and feel grounded.

Afterward, guests take turns relaxing on the table while the Reiki practitioners present work together to offer Reiki. You are welcome to simply relax and receive—there is nothing you need to do and no particular experience you are expected to have.

People experience Reiki differently. Some notice warmth, tingling, deep relaxation, or a sense of calm, while others may simply enjoy the quiet opportunity to rest.

Our monthly Reiki Share is an opportunity to slow down, connect with others, and enjoy Reiki in a welcoming community setting.

No previous experience with Reiki is necessary.

What Is Reiki?

Reiki is a Japanese energy-healing practice developed by Mikao Usui in Japan in the early 20th century. The word Reiki is often translated as universal life-force energy. The practice is based on the belief that this energy flows through and around us and that our energetic wellbeing can be affected by our experiences, emotions, stress, and environment.

I like to think of a Reiki treatment as an energetic tune-up.

We go out into the world every day and do our best, but inevitably, some things stick with us. Stressful experiences, difficult emotions, interactions with other people, and the demands of everyday life can leave us feeling drained, unsettled, or simply not quite like ourselves.

Sometimes, we need a little help letting go of what no longer serves us.

During a Reiki session, I work within the Reiki tradition to help balance the chakras, clear energetic debris from the aura, and encourage grounding. Rather than forcing or directing your experience, Reiki provides a quiet space for you to relax, reconnect with yourself, and release what you're ready to let go of.

What Does a Reiki Session Feel Like?

Reiki is gentle and does not require massage or physical manipulation. You remain fully clothed and relax comfortably on the treatment table while I place my hands lightly on or just above different areas of the body.

Everyone experiences Reiki differently. You may notice warmth or coolness, tingling, a feeling of heaviness or lightness, emotional shifts, deep relaxation, or simply a sense of quiet. Some people notice very little during the session itself. There is no “right” way to experience Reiki.

You also don't need to understand Reiki—or have any previous experience with energy work—to receive it. Your only job is to get comfortable, relax, and allow yourself a little time away from everything else.

Reiki is intended as a complementary wellness practice for relaxation and personal wellbeing and is not a replacement for medical or mental-health care.
